I never wanted to go down the path of Linux on the desktop because Linus himself says it sucks super bad... but a comedy of errors made me quickly adapt and ramp up to it and overcome most of the challenges that were not even a few hours figuring out in Windows.
You would not even believe how much time it took for me to figure out all of this, but it should work and if it doesn't - you're on your own lol. I might update more later on, but I'm burned out on just making my workstation work.
This should do most of the Jack/Calf/Carla stuff for you, and then you just need a script to create the sources/sinks, loopback -> virtual microphone, your own patchbay with your own plugins (you'll have plenty to choose from) and if you are more savvy than me - be able to tinker around a lot more with the nifty audio options. I gotta say once you have the sweating and grunting of finding how all the pieces go together, it isn't half bad... but I sure miss just using OBS with VoiceMeeter on Windows 10.
Here is the quick little preview of my office/studio space and ALL THE WINDOWS but all the audio folks I've been following say that the foam doesn't do anything but look cool anyhow.
Here is a quick run-through as to the actual outcome, and the sound is crap because I may be enough of a unixbeard to figure out how to stand it up... but having it sound good is a whole other skillset I don't possess
There's part of me that hopes none of you dare go down this path as holy wow did it waste a lot of my life... but if any of this saves others this kind of "build your own fucking cake" bullshit that is typical of Linux - well, I aim to prevent the trauma others may encounter by sharing my lived experience!
Good Luck and Godspeed - you will need it if you try and color outside the lines this hard!
